Meet Brian

As a therapist who lives with ADHD and a mood disorder, I believe it's my duty to walk alongside others as they work to manage the roller coaster of life. Believe me...it's possible. My work with clients centers around the belief that we all possess the strengths necessary to navigate life’s struggles. I believe it is vital to provide an atmosphere of unconditional positive regard, empathic understanding, and authenticity for each person that I am fortunate to work with here. Whether you are longing for change, a new path forward, or to begin your journey toward inner peace, you are welcome here. I specialize in: ADHD/neurodivergence, anxiety, depression/mood disorders, men’s issues, and LBGTQ+. I am polyamory/ENM competent.

A little bit about me … I earned both my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling and my bachelor’s degree in communication analysis and practice from The Ohio State University. I have overall a decade of experience working with a wide variety of populations across multiple settings, including: university, hospital, school, community and private practice. I opened my practice in summer 2021 and haven’t looked back!

I identify as a Gender, Sexual/Affectional, and Relationship Structure Minority inclusive therapist, welcoming individuals and couples of all identities and relationship structures. I primarily utilize acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), client-centered, mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches in my work with clients. I see adults (age 18+) for individual and couples/relational therapy.

Meet Tory

Hi, I'm Tory! I've been practicing for nearly a decade and have worked with folks from a broad range of backgrounds, cultures, ages, and presenting concerns. I am especially passionate about, and skilled in, working with individuals and relationship structures in the LGBTQIA+, Polyam/CNM, and neurodivergent communities (all of which are communities I belong to myself). I also enjoy and have experience working with folks navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, and identity formation/exploration. I do my best to show up in session as my authentic self, and bring curiosity, kindness, and humor to my work with clients.

I have a variety of therapeutic "tools" in my "toolbelt," and collaborate with clients to identify which style(s) of therapy fit best for them as we build trust and rapport. I pull from a variety of therapeutic modalities so that I can tailor my approach to meet your specific needs. A few of the modalities I use most often are Interpersonal, Dialectical Behavioral, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapies. Whichever approach I'm using, I highlight your unique strengths and work with you to identify how to use them to meet the challenges you face. A throughline in all of my work is that I am passionate about connecting clients with a more deeply felt sense of empowerment, self-compassion, and peace in their lives.

I know that starting therapy or beginning with someone new can be intimidating. If you'd like to schedule a free, 15-minute consultation for us to have a "vibe check" and so I can answer any questions you have about working with me before jumping in, feel free to request that in your communication. I'd love to connect with you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will I know if you're the right therapist for me?
We offer a free 15-minute consultation to do a “vibe check” to see if you’d like to proceed! We’ll check in with you regularly to see how you’re feeling about your treatment along the way. We’re here to discuss this every step of the way!

Q: How long are the appointments
The length of the average session will not exceed 55 minutes. The 50-minute mark serves as a reminder for us to “tie a bow” on the session, schedule additional appointments, etc. We offer longer sessions upon request, if available!

Q: How often will we meet?
This depends on your individual needs, which is a discussion between you and your therapist. You will collaborate with your therapist to determine frequency of sessions during your initial appointment.

Q: What if I want/am ready to end treatment?
You should inform your therapist if you wish to end your therapeutic relationship. No explanation required! This helps your therapist keep their finger on the pulse of how many open client slots they can offer to prospective clients and helps them to manage their caseload in the most efficient way possible. This is greatly appreciated and offers a good opportunity for open and honest communication!

Q: Do you accept insurance?
We’re in-network with several insurance companies. Please see our insurance section for more information!

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
As a small business, we rely on appointments to keep the business afloat. The further in advance the better for cancellations! This amount of notice could help another client get an appointment if you are suddenly unavailable. Cancellations prior to 24 hours of our appointment do not result in a cancellation fee. Cancellations within 12 to 24 hours of our appointment will be subject to a $65 late cancel fee. Cancellations within 12 hours of our appointment will be subject to your full session rate.

Q: Do you prescribe medication?
No, we cannot prescribe medicine; however, we’re happy to provide you with referrals to a psychiatric professional.
